Meditation...How to even get started?

Updated: Oct 10, 2021

I remember people telling me that mediating is important and I could NOT fathom how I could sit still for 20-30 minutes and just meditate. I couldn't understand even more how I could settle my mind. In this day and age, our minds are racing at a 1,000 miles an hour. We have forgotten how to live in the moment and how to settle our minds and more importantly, our hearts.

How did I start?

I literally sat down and placed a timer for 3 minutes. I closed my eyes and focused on my breath. The 3 minutes felt like 30 minutes. The next day, I increased the time to 4-minutes. The breath work played an important role and just bringing all that oxygen to my brain and organs made me feel lighter... my shoulders dropped and I felt like a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Once I was able to make this a daily habit, I able to go from 3 minutes to 20-30 minutes. Mediating helped me feel like I had more clarity throughout the day, more patience and I felt more grounded to Gaia.

What if you can't calm your mind?

Some people have problems shifting the noise out of their heads. My recommendation is to find a Guided Meditation App. Focusing on music or someone's voice helps shift some of that noise. Also, it's okay to have some "noise" passing through your mind as you meditate. Just acknowledge and release the thoughts. Try not to hold onto them and ponder their purpose. The more you practice, and you must practice, the easier it gets.

Personally, meditation transformed my life! I felt that I had more control of my thoughts, a closer connection to God and Gaia and I was able to manifest almost anything I wanted.
